Maracha District.

The unroofed Olua St Daniel Komboni Church which serves Christians in three villages in Pajama parish, Tara Sub-county in Maracha East constituency, Maracha District made Christians in the area to miss attending Sunday service prayers for over three weeks over consecutive rains which occurred in the months of August, September, October and November 2024.

Pains of the Christians were raised on Thursday 12-12-2024 during a baraza attended by the Woman MP Hon Driwaru Jennifer with the main aim of discussing the way forward to save the Christians from being disorganized by rain and sunshine during Sunday church services.
Following intervention by Maracha District Woman MP Hon Driwaru Jennifer who lobbied some iron sheets and decided to donate 146 of them to Olua St Daniel Komboni Church in October 2024, the Christians mobilized.

Prayer leader and a Catechist for one of the zones in the area, Avako Joyce recounted that, whenever it rains like this, Christians prematurely end the Sunday church prayer service by dispersing themselves to go home because of the rains.
“One of our worst experiences are also when there is sunshine, it brightens the Bible, making it impossible for the preacher to read it for the congregations at the Church’, Avako added as she further stressed that, Children would go home and the adult people would move to lean themselves under temporary shades of the walls.

Mr Amazu Felix, a Businessman in Koboko but someone from Pajama Parish, Tara Sub-county who acknowledged Hon Driwaru Jennifer as the first ever Parliamentary politician to set her foot at the compound of dilapidated Olua Church, thanked the Woman MP for her generosity for coming into their rescue because the little monies the collected as a Community for construction of the church got finished.

Maracha District Woman MP Hon Driwaru Jennifer who knelt down on the dust to thank residents in the area for voting her in 14th January 2021 general elections, said, she came to know about the dire situation of Olua St Daniel Komboni church when she went for a campaign around December 2020 and she decided to include it as one of her areas of priority, if she became the woman MP for the district during 2021 general elections.
“I didn’t make this promise that year to Human Beings but rather I made the promise to the Almighty God I am serving”, Hon Driwaru noted amidst cheers and hand claps from the crowd that gathered to listen to her.
The woman MP pledged to make sure roofing of the church begins from week Tuesday 17-December-2024.
