The Opapa irrigation scheme in Serere District was officially commissioned on February 19th at Kateta, marking a significant milestone in the district’s efforts to boost agricultural production. The project, initiated by the Ministry of Water and Environment in 2019, was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the district leadership, including the executive members, and the community .
Hon. Abeja Ann, the Vice Chairperson of Serere District and aspiring Serere Woman MP, played a crucial role in the project’s success. She worked tirelessly to sensitize the community to embrace the project, organize farmers, and push for its completion.
