Patrick Ogwang Obura, the MP aspirant for Oyam South, has cautioned voters against sectarianism during this political season. Speaking at the NRM display and update of the party membership register at Amukugungu polling station, Western ward, Kamdini Town Council, in Oyam district, Ogwang emphasized the need for unity and warned against the politics of divisionism that have hindered development in Oyam district.
Ogwang, who is now being looked at as the quickest and best replacement for the Oyam South seat, urged voters to prioritize good leadership and effective service delivery. He encouraged them to participate in the electoral process by checking their names in the national voters register during the ongoing national voter verification exercise.
Residents of Amukugung cell, including Patrick Okello, acknowledged that they had been overly partisan in the past but are now changing their mindset. Tom Opio, a member of UPC and former LC1 chairperson, confessed to voting blindly based on party affiliation, which has affected Oyam South’s development. He urged voters to support Ogwang Obura, citing his proven track record of drilling boreholes, rehabilitating others, and donating to the community despite not being a member of parliament.
