In a bid to promote technical education, parents in Kaberamaido District have been urged to take advantage of the numerous benefits it offers. During a recent graduation ceremony, Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Hood Kisenene, applauded parents for choosing technical education as the best option for their children.

Kisenene also thanked the management of BEDIGEN Tailoring and Event Management for establishing a mini-industrial hub in Kaberamaido, which provides skills training to those who cannot afford to travel to Soroti. He emphasized that skilling is essential, and the students made the right choice by pursuing technical education.

Robert Epidu, representing the Area Member of Parliament for Kaberamaido County, encouraged parents to prioritize technical education, stating that it is the best way to ensure a bright future for their children. He added that technical education can be pursued up to the PhD level, and the government is considering it a vital aspect of education.

To support the school, the Area Member of Parliament donated 300,000 Ugandan shillings to purchase a new machine for the students. BEDIGEN Tailoring and Events Management Vocational Center offers various courses, including:

Certificate in Fashion and Design: Tailoring and cutting garments

     Certificate in Hairdressing and Styling

Certificate in Baking and Cake Making

Certificate in Decoration and Events Management

The center focuses on poverty reduction initiatives and provides free education to students who are in need, including those who have lost both parents.

Ajanga Doreen, an 18-year-old from Omodi village, Kaberamaido sub-county, is a testament to the center’s impact. She lost both parents and was struggling to access education, but thanks to Director Hon Judith Isaa, who paid her school fees, she has obtained a certificate in Tailoring and Fashion Design.

Akado Mary, a single parent, also expressed her gratitude to Judith for providing her with a starting point and helping her with school fees. She is now a proud holder of a certificate in Fashion and Design.

The success stories of these students demonstrate the importance of technical education in empowering individuals and communities. As Kaberamaido District continues to lead the way in promoting technical education, it is clear that this approach will have a lasting impact on the lives of many.
