Soroti District—In a recent reshuffle announced by the Office of the President, Paul Eseru has been appointed as the new Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Soroti District, replacing Ssalim Kumakech, who has been transferred to Arua City. The changes come as part of a broader effort to streamline government operations and enhance service delivery across various regions.
Paul Eseru, who was previously serving as the RDC for Pakwach District, is known for his diligent work ethic and strong leadership qualities. Described by those who know him as a “small body but big engine brain,” Eseru has left a lasting impression on the people of Pakwach, who have expressed their deep appreciation and regret at his departure. During his tenure, he was widely praised for his commitment to the socio-economic transformation of the district, particularly through government programs such as Emyooga and the Parish Development Model.
In an interview with a local publication, an elderly resident of Pakwach, identified as Saraperi, expressed her admiration for Eseru, stating, “Eseru was such a darling, and everything related to government services ran smoothly under his watch. He was truly doing his best for the people.”
Commenting on his new appointment, Eseru emphasized his dedication to serving the public, regardless of his location. “I am merely a servant meant to lead. If it is seen by the leadership that I have to go and serve at home, I would be remiss not to follow. Soroti is home, and Pakwach is also home,” Eseru said. He also expressed gratitude to his former colleagues in Pakwach and assured them that he would continue to collaborate with them, as well as his new team in Soroti, whenever necessary.
In Soroti, Eseru will work closely with Peter Pex Paak, who remains the Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Soroti City. Paak, along with his deputies, will continue to oversee the city’s administrative functions, ensuring continuity in governance.
