The Pingire county member of parliament aspirant and official parliamentary flag bearer Hon Philip Oucor in a heartfelt gesture of Solidarity and leadership, today’s afternoon visited victims of a fatal road accident currently receiving care at Serere Health Center IV.
The accident occurred along the Ocaapa, Kyere road yesterday as a truck ferried supporters eager to welcome President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his campaign trail. The tragedy claimed the life of a young man, Emmanuel Olupot, and left several others injured.
Accompanied by other Serere district flag bearers, Oucor led the delegation in assessing the condition of the hospitalized survivors, offering emotional support to families, and engaging with health workers. The visit served as both a humanitarian gesture and a reflection of the qualities expected of a responsive leader prompt action, compassion, and presence during times of distress.
While police inquiries into the cause of the accident are ongoing, Hon. Oucor’s swift response has been commended by residents and observers alike, many of whom regard his actions as the embodiment of responsible and empathetic leadership. In a time where political leaders are often scrutinized for their distance from grassroots concerns, Oucor’s initiative stood out as a reminder of the value of human-centered public service.
Speaking during a press briefing at the health facility, Oucor conveyed condolences to the bereaved and expressed solidarity with the injured:
“I share in the grief of Emmanuel’s family and offer my deepest sympathies. May God grant healing to the injured and comfort to all those affected by this tragic event,” he stated solemnly.
Residents have praised the gesture, noting that such direct community engagement builds trust and reaffirms the leader’s commitment to serving the people. As the district grapples with grief and hopes for recovery, Hon. Oucor’s actions underscore the importance of leadership that is not only heard but also felt leadership rooted in humanity, service, and solidarity.
