The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has announced plans to stage a peaceful demonstration on February 10, 2025, in support of their chairman, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba. The protest is aimed at condemning the “irresponsible politicking” of some Members of Parliament who have allegedly made it a habit to attack and tarnish the name of General Kainerugaba.
According to Kabanda, the Secretary General of the league, PLU supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers to show their solidarity with General Kainerugaba. Kabanda made the announcement on his X account formerly Twitter, promising to provide more details in due course.
This development comes amidst controversy surrounding Kabanda’s leadership capabilities, with some PLU supporters accusing him of being unfit for the top office. However, it appears that Kabanda remains committed to his role and is now rallying support for General Kainerugaba.
The planned protest highlights the growing tensions between PLU supporters and some Members of Parliament, who are perceived to be opposed to General Kainerugaba’s interests. As the protest date approaches, it remains to be seen how events will unfold and what impact the demonstration will have on the political landscape.
