The arrest of Suzan Vivian Okedi, the wife of the director of Jozan Nursery and Primary School, has intensified the investigation into the tragic and gruesome killing of 5-year-old Joan Faith Apio.
The P. 1 pupil, was found dead under horrific circumstances, her body discovered locked in a staff latrine with her throat slashed.
This shocking event has sent reverberations throughout the Soroti community, prompting demands for justice and increased safety measures for children in boarding schools.
The Investigation is being led by a team of Scene of Crime officers and senior investigators from the East Kyoga Regional Police, along with Regional Police Commander Damalie Nachuha, who has expressed that significant progress is being made.
“police have once more revisited the Jozan Nursery and Primary School to search for physical evidence that could shed light on this disturbing incident. The school has been closed and sealed off as the focus of ongoing inquiries”, Nachuha stated.
As the investigation unfolds, four other suspects have been apprehended, including the director, Mr. Joseph Okedi, the school matron, Ms. Osula Adong, and a head teacher, along with a relative of Okedi.
The police have emphasized their commitment to thoroughly investigate the case and uncover the truth, while ensuring public safety.
