Many of political foreseers have predicted the forthcoming elections to be like tsunami for most of the sleeping legislators of Teso.
Some of the constituencies headed to sweep off their sitting legislators include the counties of Toroma, Gweri, Kapelebyong, Pingire, Kapir, Usuk, Soroti City East Division and Soroti County.
Of course we are not making conclusions here but these are just the responses from 80 out of the 100 voters we interview from each of the constituencies across the greater Teso.
Leave alone the score card ratings, but this directly from the voters’ feedback the patriot’s researchers patrolled the constituencies for close to three months.
The questions poised to the voters were:
- If today is 2026, will you vote back your member of parliament and for what reason?
- If not the incumbent, who else could you vote to represent you in the national assembly?
- Has your member of parliament achieved 50% of his or her manifesto?
Below are the Members of parliament from Teso whose chances of returning to parliament are high:
Joan Alobo Achom, Woman Mp Soroti City.
Alobo is currently the shadow minister for Cooperatives and Microfinance in the shadow carbonate, also the vice Chairperson of the Teso Parliamentary Group – TPG.
Hon Alobo apias “arrow girl” has been rated by the voters of Soroti city as an outstanding leader ever.
Coupled with her wilderness in opposing the NRM government, the FDC’s iron lady has consistently been outstanding in a series of activities in her constituency.
Ranging from a lineup of women and youth empowerment projects, Alobo earned her marks from standing by the Market community especially the controversial Soroti Main Market, besides her resilience in Parliament.
Out of the 100 voters interviewed, 91 confessed to vote her back for the second term.
Hellen Adoa Abeku, Woman Mp Serere District.
Hellen Adoa is currently the state Minister Agriculture, animal and Fisheries in charge Fisheries and serving her second term in the National Assembly.
She has remained sparked in the hearts of her voters as 96 out of the 100 we approached appreciate her performance and pledge to vote her back for the third term.
Adoa is praised for being mindful of her voters without segregating. She is also appreciated for Supporting the Iteso cultural Union and promoting the Iteso Culture.
Her voters boast of her hard work in ironing out roads, health facilities, education and fighting poverty amongst the households.
Maj. Rtd. Jessica Rose Alupo
In fact campaigns for the sole candidature of the Vice President Rtd. Maj. Jessica Rose Alupo have commenced in Katakwi district where she is a woman member of Parliament.
Out of the 100 respondents, 98 approved her return to parliament for the fourth term.
Musa Ecweru
The Amuria County electorate say that they are still contented with the services of their MP Musa Ecweru who is currently the State Minister for Works.
Ecweru has been ranked as the leading fighter of peace and stability in the region. Voters praise him for improving on the road network and the entire security in Amuria and Teso at large.
98 respondents were in support of his return to parliament.
Dr. Clement Ongalo Obote.
In Kalaki County, Dr. Clement Ongalo Obote is the most popular leader whose visibility has never dropped. The Teso affair Minister has earned marks from his peaceful and diplomatic approach to uniting the Iteso and Kumam caltural groups.
Out of the 100 respondents, 92 have lined up for him in the coming elections.
Speaker Anita Among.
Just like any other person knows, the Speaker Anita Among shall always find all possible means of retaining her seat as a woman Mp Bukedea district.
The untouchable Anita is expected to go as a soul candidate as every one knows the pressure she exerts to anyone who emerges to contest with her.
70 respondents in Bukedea out of 100 concluded that Anita shall maintain the clean sheet in the forthcoming tussle.
Juliet Achayo Lodou
Achayo remains the hard bullet on target in Ngora county as they applaud her transitional regime. Her efforts are much felt in polishing educational services, fighting poverty amongst the households and neutralizing the challenge in health service provision.
Achayo’s fate was determined by 94 respondents who freely defined her next smooth return to office.
Others anticipated include Opolot Patrick Isiagi the Mp Kachumbala County, and Moses Okia Attan for Soroti City East Division whose gates to parliament have been widely opened by the exit of the incumbent Herbert Edmund Ariko from the race.
