Kaberamaido District is set to host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Wednesday, marking his first visit to the district since his campaign for the 2016 general elections. This visit is part of his ongoing tour of the Teso sub-region, which commenced on November 18, 2024, and is scheduled to conclude on November 20, 2024.
The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kaberamaido, Mr. Lotem Lions Lokori, confirmed the visit, noting that the district had received official communication from the President’s protocol team last week. According to Mr. Lokori, President Museveni’s tour aims to engage with successful farmers who have benefited from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program. The visit will culminate in a mega rally at Kaberamaido Township Primary School, bringing together leaders from across Teso and Lango regions.
Mr. Lokori highlighted that the rally is a significant event, given the President’s prolonged absence from the district. He expressed optimism that the visit will provide a platform for the local leadership and community to present their concerns directly to the President.
The District Chairperson, Mr. Victor Rex Ekesu, applauded the President’s visit, describing it as a valuable opportunity for Kaberamaido’s leadership and residents. He emphasized that the President’s presence would allow him to interface with the community about the Parish Development Model and other government programs.
Upon arrival at the rally venue, President Museveni is expected to tour an exhibition showcasing various development initiatives and achievements within the district. The visit is anticipated to foster dialogue between the government and the community, strengthening development efforts in the region.
