President Yoweri Museveni has urged cultural leaders across the country to preserve the culture of hard work and decency among their subjects. He emphasized that leaders should strive to raise a generation of integrity to banish corruption and support peaceful living.
“I urge the cultural leaders to preserve our culture of hard work and decency, which will propel the nation and Africa to the next level, rather than embracing cultures of shame and prejudice from the Western world,” President Museveni said.
These remarks were delivered by Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo during the Silver Jubilee Coronation anniversary of His Royal Highness Kwar Adhola Moses Stephen Owor at Achilet Primary School in Tororo district. The celebrations were guided by the theme, “Gender Parity: A Prerequisite to Sustainable Peace and Development in a Fast-Changing Environment.”
President Museveni highlighted that the Silver Jubilee of Kwar Adhola marks a significant milestone for the Padhola cultural institution, established under the NRM leadership, celebrating years of hard work and achievements. He acknowledged the dedication and commitment of the people who have strengthened the Kingdom and encouraged them to continue working in unity to bring about change and development in their communities.
The president expressed gratitude for the wisdom and provision that have sustained His Royal Highness, and he praised the progress of the Kingdom and its positive relationship with the government. He noted that the restoration of cultural institutions by the government has allowed them to fully participate in the development of their people.
Museveni reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting cultural institutions, provided resources are available. He emphasized the importance of poverty eradication and self-reliance through government programs such as Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), Emyooga, and the Parish Development Model (PDM), which aim to uplift Ugandans out of poverty.
The president called on all stakeholders, especially leaders in cultural institutions, to promote the NRM’s gospel of hard work and self-reliance in households and the country. He also congratulated His Royal Highness Kwar Adhola Moses Stephen Owor on celebrating 25 years of leadership and prayed for his continued health and wisdom.
Kwar Adhola expressed gratitude for the government’s support and highlighted the Kingdom’s efforts in environmental conservation and community sensitization. He also acknowledged the president’s guidance on economic and social development, which has helped the Tieng Adhola cultural institution create platforms for addressing social ills.
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including cultural leaders, clergy, and politicians, such as Ministers Oboth Oboth and Hellen Asamo, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong, and NRM Party Electoral Chairperson Tanga Odoi. Todwong congratulated Kwar Adhola on his Silver Jubilee and emphasized that cultural institutions play a key role in spreading the NRM’s message of wealth creation at the family level.
