President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has concluded his Day Three campaign rallies in Katakwi and Amuria districts with a strong message of unity, reconciliation, and economic transformation, a message that electrified thousands of enthusiastic supporters who thronged the venues.
The highlight of the rallies was the President’s renewed commitment to cattle rehabilitation in Teso, a policy promise that resonated deeply with the local population, whose livelihoods have long depended on livestock farming. The announcement was met with thunderous applause from the crowds at Katakwi Boma Grounds and later in Amuria Town Council, signaling a wave of excitement across the sub-region.

The rallies were also marked by a historic display of unity among key Teso political leaders, Vice President Jessica Rose Alupo, State Minister for Sports Peter Ogwang, and Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, who stood together in a public show of reconciliation after years of political rivalry. Their joint presence symbolized a new chapter of cooperation and solidarity ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, the President was received by thousands of jubilant supporters waving NRM flags and chanting his name. The vibrant scenes reflected the strong grassroots mobilization that has characterized the NRM campaign trail in Teso.

While addressing the gathering, NRM Eastern Region Vice Chairman David Calvin Ecodu presented a memorandum to the President, emphasizing cattle rehabilitation as a top priority for the people of Teso. Ecodu noted that the sub-region has suffered economic setbacks over the years due to cattle rustling and loss of livestock, making government intervention both timely and necessary.
Responding to the plea, President Museveni, who is also the NRM presidential flag bearer, reaffirmed his government’s readiness to restore Teso’s livestock economy.

“I know it will be very costly, but it will contribute greatly to the stability of the region and the country at large,” Museveni assured.
He added that the NRM government has successfully delivered peace, security, and infrastructure development, paving the way for a new phase focused on wealth creation and economic empowerment.
“NRM has now secured peace and stability through improved security, road connectivity, health, and education. We are now focusing on economic transformation. I want every household to embrace enterprise selection and wealth creation,” he said.
The President also used the platform to encourage local leaders and citizens to take advantage of government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, urging them to participate actively in income-generating activities.

After an intense week of rallies across the Teso sub-region, President Museveni is expected to take a short weekend break on Sunday before resuming his campaign trail in Soroti and Serere districts on Monday.
As the rallies ended, the atmosphere in Katakwi and Amuria was filled with optimism and renewed faith in the NRM’s promises, with many voters expressing confidence that the long-awaited cattle rehabilitation initiative would finally restore prosperity to the Teso sub-region.
