In response to a recent surge in violence, including the murder of a 40-year-old woman, Lamwo District authorities have introduced several new security measures. A key decision from a recent meeting at the Ngomoromo border point involved changing the officer in charge of the local police post, which was promptly carried out by the District Police Commander (DPC) SP Nuwagaba Ivan.
To enhance public safety, the meeting resolved that all bars must close by 9 PM to reduce late-night disturbances and criminal activities. Additionally, the Local Council 1 (LC1) has been given four days to register every resident in the six villages of Ngomoromo parish. This registration aims to improve community surveillance and help identify potential security threats.
Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Geoffrey Osborn Oceng highlighted that these measures are designed to harmonize the community and reduce crime, rather than cause inconvenience. “The call was not to cause pain but rather to harmonize the situation and curb crime,” he said.
Following recent killings at the Ngomoromo border point, these actions demonstrate a strong commitment by Lamwo District officials to restore peace and security, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
