On February 28, 2025, a significant step was taken towards strengthening ties between Uganda and Central Africa Republic, as government officials met with Acholi leaders to promote reconciliation and peaceful coexistence. Amuru District Resident Commissioner (RDC), Osborn Ocheing Geoffrey, led a delegation of government officials, including Mr. Fulbert Gbangona Dabira, Director of the Cabinet for Central Africa Republic’s Minister in charge of DDRR, to Ker Kwaro Acholi for a courtesy call.
The team was warmly received by Deputy Paramount Chief of Acholi, Rwot Martin Otinga Otoo Yai of Lamogi. During the meeting, Rwot Otinga expressed gratitude to Mr. Fulbert for facilitating the return of Konys’ wife and children to Uganda. The Acholi leader also commended the governments of Uganda and Central Africa Republic for their efforts in promoting harmonious coexistence among African nations.
RDC Geoffrey emphasized the importance of reconciliation and reintegration of returnees, stressing that the government should provide support, including land, to facilitate their resettlement. This gesture is expected to foster a sense of belonging and promote peaceful coexistence among communities.
The meeting highlighted the need for continued collaboration in promoting regional peace and stability. It also marked a significant step towards strengthening ties between Uganda and Central Africa Republic, promoting a sense of unity and cooperation among African nations.
