Masaka City, Uganda- Religious leaders from across the Greater Masaka region gathered today at Hotel Brovad for a sensitization workshop on the upcoming nationwide malaria vaccination exercise. The event, organized by the Ministry of Health, aimed to equip faith leaders with accurate information on immunization, ensuring they effectively mobilize communities to participate in the program.
During the workshop, religious leaders were urged to relay correct messages about immunization, emphasizing the importance of completing the full vaccination schedule. This effort seeks to encourage parents and caregivers to bring their children for timely vaccination against malaria, a disease that remains a major public health concern in Uganda.
While closing the session, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Masaka, Ahamada Washaki, commended the religious leaders for their unwavering support of government programs. He also called upon them to continue praying for and supporting His Excellency the President in his mission to transform society through health and development initiatives.
The Ministry of Health is expected to roll out the malaria vaccination campaign soon, targeting children in the most vulnerable age groups. Religious institutions have been identified as key stakeholders in mobilizing communities and dispelling myths surrounding immunization.
With the support of faith-based leaders, the government hopes to achieve high vaccination coverage and protect millions of children from the life-threatening effects of malaria.
