The residents of a place called Munducaku (meaning, Government services haven’t reached there) in Ajira Sub-county, Maracha East Constituency have finally received a solar-powered light donated and installed for free by Maracha East Constituency MP Aspirant Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim after they lived in their area for many years without enjoying an automated .

This rare opportunity for the residents of Munducaku, a mountainous area comes at a time when the Aspiring MP Candidate, Mr. Tahiri, has from 2023 to date been installing solar-powered lights in prominent trading centers of all the 11 Sub-counties in Maracha East Constituency in Maracha District.
According to the initiator of the project, Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim, these solar-powered lights, which automatically switch themselves OFF and ON, have three-year guarantees, and thereafter, new ones can be brought and installed.

Ajira Sub-county LC3 Chairperson Hon Ahmed Bran, while reminding the residents on how he frequently disturbed Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim for going to install the lights in the Sub-county, thanked him for heeding his cry.
“Crimes thrive in darkness,” the LC3 Chairperson quoted during an interview with our news reporter, as he expressed optimism that these solar-powered automatic lights are going to reduce or scare away people who may have intentions of committing some crimes in such public places like markets and trading centers.
Hon Bran further stated that, with this intervention by Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim, the local revenue Munducaku market generates for Ajira Sub-county, is expected to increase because the lights will give amble time for the women to take many items to be sold in the market, henceforth increasing market due collections.
Besides an ongoing Oil seed road construction project being implemented in Ajira Sub-county by Maracha District local government, and also has brought the solar-powered lights project wholeheartedly for the people, the Maracha East Constituency MP Aspirant Mr. Amandu Tahiri Karim expressed gratitude to the government of Uganda for having minded about the people of Munducaku in Ajira Sub-county who have been neglected from benefiting in government services for many years despite the area being part of Maracha District and Uganda.
He urged them to appreciate the NRM government by voting for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the upcoming February 2026 general elections in Uganda.

A vendor from Ayanga village, Candiru Jane, decried the challenges they used to face when selling their items in the Munducaku market during late hours.
“We have really suffered in this area! Due to domestic duties, most of us often come to the market at 5pm and we sell items up to 8pm or 9pm but when you don’t buy a torch for selling your merchandise, some of the unscrupulous people, especially some youths would take advantage of the darkness in the market to grab away your item”, Candiru expressed as she thanked the MP Aspirant Mr Amandu Tahiri for observing lack of lights as one of the biggest challenges that has been affecting them in the area.

Rev. Abizua Jimmy, the Parish Priest for Oliapi Parish, described the actions of Mr Amandu Tahiri Karim as a visionary leader.

Based on information from Ajira Sub-county Officials and also the market tenderer for Munducaku market, the market generates a local revenue of 185,000 Shs monthly.
