In the plains of Teso, where tradition meets tenacity, a man of modest stature but monumental influence has been quietly shaping the course of governance and people management for the past two decades.
David Asubu, son of the esteemed retired head teacher the indomitable Toto Mary Florence Acalo, is a figure whose name reverberates through the corridors of power and the hearts of the common folk alike.
He is fully married with four lovely children. He has a state home in Oburi village, Awoja Parish in Aukot.
In 2023, he pulled running water across villages to his Oburi village, and also donated free warer during the festive season.

As the 2026 elections loom, the political winds in Gweri County are beginning to swirl around this enigmatic figure, setting the stage for a showdown that promises to be nothing short of biblical—David vs. Goliath, revisited.
Born and bred in the humble yet resilient Ongongo Village, Acaboi Parish, Aukot Sub-County in Soroti District, Asubu’s roots run deep in the soil of Teso. His mother, a a symbol of strength during the insurgency, served with distinction across several schools, leaving an indelible mark on the region’s educational system.
Today, she continues her service as a member of the district land board, a signal to the Acalo family’s enduring commitment to public service.
Asubu’s own journey is a sign to the power of education and relentless determination. From the classrooms of Awoja Primary School to the hallowed halls of Uganda Martyrs University, where he earned a degree in Democracy & Development Studies.
Asubu has honed his intellect and sharpened his resolve. A holder of diplomas from prestigious institutions, including one from South Africa, and a certificate in Law for Administrators from Makerere University, he is a man well-armed with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex terrain of governance.
While his educational accolades are impressive, it is his work that truly sets him apart.
Currently serving as the Regional Programme Officer for ActionAid Northern Uganda, West Nile, and the Albertine Region, Asubu has become a trusted guardian of governance and human rights.
Celebrating a decade of service with ActionAid in 2023, his influence has grown far beyond the confines of his office.
Before this, his tenure at the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) in Katakwi Sub Program left an indelible mark on the region, earning him the undying respect and affection of those he served.
Asubu’s career reads like a roadmap of devotion to the cause of justice, from his early days at the Uganda Human Rights Commission under the mentorship of Mr. Osiya Solomon to his impactful work with Action Against Child Abuse and Neglect (AACAN) in Soroti.
His time with Abarilela Community Development Organisation (ACDO) further cemented his reputation as a man of the people.
But what truly makes Asubu a serious force is not just his resume but the “HE” factor the combination of heart and ethos that drives him.
Known as “Motor Mouthed Asubu,” he has never shied away from speaking truth to power. His courage, conviction, and relentless pursuit of justice for those living in poverty.
