The students of St. Maria Goretti Senior Secondary School, Katende have been mentored in leadership skills and values to become effective future leaders.
The mentorship is under the iLead Programme, a three-year peer-led leadership programme, which targets high school students to equip them with leadership skills and values.
The programme nurtures the young generation into competent and selfless leadership, which is crucial if they have to become good leaders in the future. The Franklyn Institute runs with the mantra that leadership begins with self.
The Franklyn Institute launched the iLead programme with the presence of representatives from 13 secondary schools in Uganda, in November 2023. The 13 schools were selected with the aid of Franklyn Ambassadors who volunteer to mentor high school students into leadership.
Currently, the iLead Programme is being implemented in seven secondary schools, including, St Maria Goretti Senior Secondary School, Katende, Kololo SS in Kampala, St Mbuuga Vocational School in Makindye, St Paul SS Mbulamuti, in Kamuli, Tropical High School, Bugweeri, Kakira SS in Jinja and London College, Nansana in Wakiso District. Nakasongola Army secondary school will be enrolled this month.
