Michael Ayerang, a man notorious for posing as a Presidential Advisor, has been arrested following a sting operation at State House. Ayerang, who presented himself as a man with a generous heart, had gained the trust of numerous individuals by falsely claiming he could help them secure assistance from the President’s office and State House.
To strengthen his credibility, Ayerang reportedly brandished a fake ID that identified him as a professional advisor. However, investigations revealed that he had never been employed by State House, nor had he ever been appointed as a Presidential Advisor. His elaborate ruse, which he used to defraud unsuspecting victims, was exposed by mainstream media over the weekend.
According to State House officials, Ayerang had made a career out of scamming people, promising them lucrative government business deals and political connections in exchange for money. He would then use the funds he extorted to live a luxurious lifestyle, buying high-end SUVs and vacationing in exclusive resorts. These lavish trips were documented in videos he shared online, intended to further deceive his victims by portraying himself as a wealthy, well-connected individual.
Several victims described Ayerang as a confident and persuasive individual who often convinced them that he was close to high-ranking government officials and individuals in the President’s inner circle. He promised that the money he collected from them was being used to facilitate meetings with top leadership, ensuring government deals and business opportunities.
Ayerang’s downfall came when he extorted large sums of money from foreign investors, promising to secure government contracts. When it became evident that they had been conned, the victims reported the scam to the President, who immediately ordered Ayerang’s arrest.
Following his arrest, hundreds of victims, including foreign investors, civil servants, religious leaders, construction companies, and young unemployed women, came forward to share their harrowing experiences of being duped. Many of these individuals are now preparing to testify against him in court.
It has also emerged that Ayerang used the names of over 10 high-profile government officials and individuals in the private sector, all of whom were unaware of his activities. These officials are also expected to testify against him in court, further sealing his fate.
Meanwhile, a small group of Ayerang’s associates from Bunyoro have staged protests, calling for his release. However, investigators have dismissed these demonstrations as staged and remain focused on prosecuting him for his numerous crimes.
Ayerang’s arrest marks the end of a sophisticated scheme that preyed on the trust of his victims, with the court case expected to bring justice to those he defrauded.
