In a move aimed at enhancing social service delivery in the Karamoja region, Senior Presidential Advisor Kibrai Ambako conducted a surprise inspection of Nakapiripirit district. The visit, which was made at the behest of President Yoweri Museveni, aimed to assess the level of social service delivery in the district.
During his visit, Ambako inspected several key facilities, including Tokora HCIV and Nakapiripirit HCIII. While he commended the health workers at Nakapiripirit HCIII for their commitment and dedication to work, he expressed concern over the high levels of staff absenteeism and late coming at both facilities.
Ambako also noted that the facilities were in a poor state, with overgrown bushes and inadequate infrastructure. He emphasized the need for improved maintenance and upkeep of public facilities, stressing that this was critical to ensuring the delivery of quality social services.
In addition to inspecting health facilities, Ambako also visited two seed schools in Kakomongole and Nakapiripirit. He was impressed with the level of monitoring supervision and workmanship at both schools, and commended the contractors for their good work.
Ambako also held a meeting with district officials, including the RDC, DEC, and NRM DEC members, as well as heads of departments, selected partners, and leaders of faith-based organizations. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of patriotism and manifesto implementation in improving social service delivery.
He stressed that mindset change and adherence to Presidential directives were crucial in the successful implementation of government projects. Ambako also emphasized the need for effective mobilization and coordination among district officials, partners, and stakeholders.
The visit was also an opportunity for Ambako to applaud RDC George Owanyi for his effective mobilization and representation of the President in the district. He also commended the Secretary Office of the President for constructing a magnificent office block in Nakapiripirit, which has increased the presence and visibility of the Presidency in Karamoja.
The inspection visit is part of the government’s efforts to monitor and evaluate the performance of district officials in delivering social services. It aims to identify areas of improvement and ensure that public resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.
