Abeja Ann Beatrice, the current Serere District Female Youth Councillor, Minister for Community-Based Services, and District Vice Chairperson, has officially unveiled her interest to serve as the Woman MP for Serere District. This announcement was made during a burial ceremony on February 16, 2025, in Labor.
Abeja’s decision to run for the Woman MP seat pits her against seasoned politicians, including two-term serving Minister of Fisheries, Hellen Adoa Abeku, and Achom Esther, also known as “Ajokotau”. This highly contested race promises to be an exciting one, with Abeja’s leadership experience, academic credentials, and commitment to community development making her a formidable candidate.
As a dedicated public servant, Abeja has demonstrated her ability to effectively serve the people of Serere District. Her experience as a Councillor, Compound Prefect, Guild Representative Council member, and District Vice Chairperson has equipped her with a deep understanding of the district’s needs and challenges. Notably, Abeja also served as Head Girl during her time at Muljibhai Madhvani College Wairaka-Jinja, showcasing her early leadership skills.
Abeja’s academic background, which includes a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from Makerere University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Uganda Management Institute, and a Certificate in Administrative Law from Makerere University, further solidifies her credentials as a capable leader.
As the election season heats up, Abeja is poised to bring her unique blend of leadership experience, academic credentials, and passion for community development to the forefront. Will she emerge victorious in the highly contested Serere District Woman MP race? Only time will tell.
