The arrest followed a tip-off from locals in Oriyoi Village, Morikatipe sub-county, who reported that Emanu was illegally keeping monkeys, posing a threat to students at Oriyoi Primary School, and was allegedly involved in cult activities.
Responding to the allegations, the police, in collaboration with the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), conducted a search at Emanu’s residence.
In his home in Oriyoi Village, Morikatipe sub-county, law enforcement recovered a pistol with 31 rounds of ammunition, 23 teargas canisters, car number plates, and opium seeds.
The pastor Georgewell Emanu, faces charges related to the possession of illegal items and is under police custody pending further investigation.
