The late Brig. Gen. Charles Oluka has been airlifted to Soroti, where the community is expected to pay their final respects.
His body was transported via UPDF helicopter and warmly received by a delegation of local leaders, including His Royal Highness Emorimor Papa Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng and The Kumam Won Ateker Papa Raphael Otaya.
The body has been taken to St. Patrick Catholic Parish in Madera Soroti for a memorial mass, after which it will be made available for public viewing at Soroti Flying School.
Following this, Brig. Gen. Oluka will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Ousia Parish, Apapai Sub County, Kalaki district.
The Teso and Kumam chiefdoms have come together to mourn his death, reflecting a collective loss for the communities.
Both Chiefs have emphasized the significance of this moment and the impact of losing such a key security figure.
They noted that the absence of leaders like Brig. Gen. Oluka could pose risks to the stability of the region, recognizing the crucial roles these leaders play in maintaining peace and ordorderer.
In their heartfelt statements, thec hiefs expressed their condolences and commitment to supporting each other during this challenging time.
