Soroti, Uganda – The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Chemutai James Small oversaw the distribution of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds in Agora Ward, West Division, Soroti City West today the 13th September 2024
Beneficiaries of the program, alongside local leaders and stakeholders, gathered for the occasion. Assistant RCCs Oroma Musa and Ocen Hassan joined Mr. Chemutai in ensuring the smooth handover of the funds to recipients.
During his remarks, Mr. Chemutai reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating poverty and improving livelihoods through grassroots initiatives like the PDM. “This program is designed to empower our people, allowing them to take charge of their economic future,” he said, emphasizing the importance of the funds in fostering local development.
He also cautioned against opposition politicians who, he claimed, mislead the public about government efforts, which only slows down progress. “Poverty is not part of God’s creation, as stated in Genesis 1:3. We must unite in the fight against it,” he encouraged, reminding the community that collective action is key to overcoming hardship.
The PDM funds are intended to stimulate economic growth at the parish level, with recipients expected to invest in initiatives that will enhance their livelihoods. The disbursement in Agora Ward marks an important step in this ongoing effort, with similar initiatives planned across Soroti City in the coming weeks.
