Soroti, Uganda – Icumar Patrick, the Soroti District Commissioner for Scouts, has hailed President Yoweri Museveni for appointing Paul Eseru as the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Soroti District.
While addressing the media after a meeting with the scouts leadership, Icumar Patrick praised the President’s decision, saying it was a wise move that would boost development in the district.
The scouts leadership in Soroti also announced that they had chosen Paul Eseru as the patron for the Soroti Scouts Council. Paul Eseru, who has been serving as the RDC in Soroti, accepted the position and promised to work closely with the scouts leadership to promote scouting activities.
During the meeting, Paul Eseru thanked the scouts and girl guides for their efforts in promoting scouting and promised to be available for the team whenever needed. He also reiterated his commitment to supporting scouting activities in the district.
The meeting also discussed challenges facing scouting activities in the district, including the collection of funds from schools to support scouting activities. The head of primary teachers, Emadu, and the secondary schools representative raised concerns about the practice, saying it was not sustainable.
The event ended with the commissioning of over 30 new leaders of the scouting fraternity in Soroti. Paul Eseru, in his capacity as the RDC and patron of the Soroti Scouts Council, presided over the commissioning ceremony.
The development is expected to boost scouting activities in Soroti District, with the support of the RDC and the scouts leadership.
