The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arraigned Tusubira Sam, a State Attorney at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, before the Anti-Corruption Court on 16 counts of corruption. The charges stem from allegations that Tusubira, while representing the government in court, solicited a bribe of UGX 100 million from a complainant, Aplainlift, who had sued the Ministry of Lands and the Attorney General over the irregular cancellation of his land title.
According to the Anti-Corruption Unit, Tusubira promised Aplainlift that in exchange for the bribe, he would assist in securing compensation for the cancellation of the title. By the time of his arrest, Tusubira had allegedly received approximately UGX 43 million from the complainant. The accused has been remanded in custody until 20th August 2024, pending further court proceedings.
