State House Overwhelmed by Donation Requests, MPs Urged to Support Budget Increas

Kampala – The State House Comptroller, Jane Barekye, has revealed that State House is overwhelmed by the numerous requests for presidential donations. She noted that even ministers continue to submit demands from their constituencies whenever she attends cabinet meetings.

Barekye made these remarks while appearing before Parliament’s Presidential Affairs Committee, where she addressed concerns raised by MPs regarding the many outstanding presidential pledges that have remained unfulfilled for years, causing challenges in their constituencies.

Her comments were in response to a question posed by Kazo District Woman MP, Janifer Muheesi, who inquired about the measures State House is implementing to clear the backlog of presidential donations. It should be noted that in the 2024/2025 national budget, State House requested an additional UGX 30 billion for these donations.

Immaculate Namara, the Director of Planning at State House, highlighted that the current budget for presidential donations is insufficient given the overwhelming demand.

Bulaga County MP, Stephen Kangwagye, urged his fellow MPs to support State House’s requests for additional funds, arguing that this would ensure the presidential donations budget remains adequate to meet ongoing needs.
