Stephen Ejoku, the CEO of Ejoku Foundation and a native of Asuret subcounty in Soroti county, has set his sights on a leadership role in Soroti district under the NRM Ticket. In his recent address at the Annual General Meeting held at Gweri Senior Secondary School in Gweri subcounty, Soroti district, Ejoku rallied hundreds of parents, school staff, and political aspirants to prioritize environmental conservation and educational reform.

Ejoku emphasized the urgency of utilizing the current rainy season to replenish the region’s depleted forests, urging communities across Teso subregion to engage in tree replanting initiatives to counteract deforestation. As a demonstration of his commitment to environmental stewardship, Ejoku planted various tree species, including mangoes, oranges, jackfruit, and shade trees, highlighting their dual role in providing fruits and serving as windbreakers and lightning arresters.

Furthermore, Ejoku underscored the importance of collaboration between parents, school leadership, and local authorities to address challenges hindering academic performance, such as student absenteeism. He pledged support for school initiatives, offering maize seedlings to bolster the school’s agricultural program and enhance the school feeding program, thereby fostering a conducive learning environment for students.

In a departure from divisive politics, Ejoku expressed his willingness to collaborate with leaders from different political affiliations, stressing the paramount importance of unity for community development. He criticized political rivals engaging in discriminatory practices and divisive rhetoric, advocating for a collective effort towards the well-being of the people.

Ejoku’s proactive approach to addressing environmental concerns and educational challenges has garnered praise from stakeholders, including Patrick Omedo, the headteacher of Gweri Senior Secondary School. Omedo commended Ejoku’s efforts to promote environmental conservation and alleviate food insecurity in the school, highlighting the positive impact on academic performance and student welfare.

Ejoku’s leadership style, characterized by transparency, commitment, and inclusivity, has instilled hope among residents of Soroti district. With the upcoming elections, stakeholders anticipate that Ejoku’s vision for sustainable development and community empowerment will yield tangible results for the people of Teso subregion.
