NGORA: The LC3s and the NRM Sub-County Chairperson’s from Six District of Teso South that is Kumi, Bukedea, Ngora, Serere, Palisa and Butebo have been challenged by Rt Hon Rose Namayanja Nsereko, the NRM Deputy Secretary General to monitor the implementation of the manifesto at the various Sub-Counties. She emphasized that it is important for both the NRM Sub-County Chairperson’s and the LC3s to seek for relevant information from their Districts for purposes of dissemination. She was speaking at a meeting organized by a volunteer group of NRM Senior cadres in Teso led by Ambassodor Nelson Oceger, the Ugandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Echodu Calvin, General charles Angina the Deputy Ambassodor to Egypt among others. She thanked Ambassodor Nelson Oceger and his team for always sacrificing resources for the sake of the Party.

Additionally, Namayanja informed the locals that Teso had over 820 registered and validated PDM Sacco’s and so far only about 26 Sacco’s had not received funds. She noted that over 20 Billion shillings was already sent to Teso for purposes of PDM while close to 8 Billion shillings was for Emyooga. Accordingly she urged the NRM Subcounty leaders to always be active in their Sub-Counties and ensure that they participate in monitoring all government programs.

Similarly Gen Charles Angina the Deputy High Commissioner to Egypt took the leaders through understanding the political economy of Teso. He emphasized the need for Valley Dams to sort out the issue of Floods in the region. Additionally, Gen Charles advocated the need for choosing correct priorities for the region for purposes of fighting poverty in the Region.

During the Meeting Mr Solomon Osiya, a former member of the Manifesto implementation committee shared the specific issues that the manifesto intends to address in Teso. He enumerated issues like ALELES Bridge, Acomai irrigation scheme, Valley dams in Teso like Ongina dam, the Kumi-Agwara road, seeds schools, Upgrade of Health centers including Soroti regional Hospital to mention but a few.

Earlier in the day, the Hon Minister of Teso responded to the concerns of the locals leaders that included challenges in road network, Electricity, inadequate funding for Sub-County Local governments and above the question of compensation that government has not addressed comprehensively. The State Minister of Teso promised to address some of the matters to the respective ministries and those that fall within his ministry would be addressed by him. He however urged leaders to be realistic in their demands so that government MDAs can address them.

While closing the meeting, Rt Hon Namayanja promised to apply an open door policy in addressing party leaders concerns.
