Teso’s NUP Delegates unhappy with Besigye’s coalition.

A section of the National Unity Platform diehards in Teso Sub – Region have reacted to the decision by their pary leadership to conjoin forces with the Forum for Democratic Change founder Dr. Kiiza Besigye and his followers including the Kampala’s Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, the FDC former Spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and Salaam Musumba among others.

The front liners have called on their top leaders of the party to trade carefully especially with Dr. Kiiza Besigye and Lukwago whom they say have scattered the FDC party and now stretching their eyes on the united NUP.

George Okoit the Nup’s focal point person in Soroti City on Saturday while on Teso Broadcasting Services (TBS F.M) a local Radio station based in Soroti City, said that Besigye could have first resolved their FDC in-house conflicts other than rushing to couple up with the National Unity Platform.

He further insists that on legal grounds, Besigye is never a president of FDC, rather Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat who was officially elected and currently sits at the FDC official party headquarters located in Najanakumbi Entebbe – Road.

George Okoit speaking to the press at the Soroti NUP party offices recently.

“I will never trust Besigye in my life and not when I am still alive, within my little knowledge, Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat should have been an official signatory to the coalition. Besigye is uncontrollable and wants to be above everyone in Ideologies and that is my worry.” he said.

Adding, “Besigye and his group have confused the opposition in Uganda hence giving a continuous advantage for Museveni to rule Uganda which we are not going to accept”.

Besigye who believes that FDC has lost its stamina as a result of defections, infiltration by NRM moles, and failure to mobilise resources believes that his new role in the coalition with the National Unity Platform will surely weaken the National Resistance Movement and remove President Museveni from the long stayed power.

Okoit dismisses Besigye’s ideology with a view that it is unnecessary to baptize others as moles because politics is a dynamic game.

“I believe that every party has moles including NUP where they think is a big deal, what matters is continuous engagements and dialogues to have conflicts resolved.” he said.
