The political Reports: Buyinza Adam Luzindana led the most violent, extremist, and controversial youth group in Uganda’s politics, known as the Uganda Poor Youth Movement, from 2013 to 2019, when it was allegedly disbanded. This violent group metamorphosed from the Makerere University Poor Students Association (MUPOSA), which was founded by Buyinza Adam Luzindana.
Buyinza Adam was the supreme leader of the notorious Uganda Poor Youth Movement, which organized countrywide youth attacks against the government of Gen Museveni and the group, in the 2016 presidential elections, fronted former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi as a presidential candidate. To date, Buyinza has remained so close to Amama Mbabazi but also maintains a highly sophisticated channel of engagements with President Museveni.
All radios, TVs, and other media houses rated Buyinza Adam Luzindana the most influential youth leader in 2014 to 2016 with many dubbing him Putin due to his perceived control over the youth demographic. Buyinza Adam was Supreme Leader of the Uganda Poor Youth Movement since its illegal commissioning in 2013 and is purportedly still its Supreme leader despite him denying it and claiming that the poor youth movement was disbanded.
As Regional Chairman in charge of Kampala Region of the ruling National Resistance Movement party led by President Museveni from October 2010 to 2015,Buyinza asserted his power and influence, summoning RDCs in Kampala to brief him on Government activities in Kampala. He would demand them to give him intelligence reports and demanded Residents district commissioners in Kampala to meet Kampala youth leaders on a monthly basis.
Buyinza’s relationships with President Museveni and former Premier Amama Mbabazi have raised eyebrows. He has hosted the President at his Public Opinions events and Amama Mbabazi has attended despite their past differences. This has led to speculation about the nature of their relationships and Buyinza’s true role in the politics of Uganda. The flamboyant former Youth Leader has kept himself away from mainstream media and public appearances while claiming to be involved in some sort of peasantry farming in his home village in kayunga central Uganda.
However depspite his controversial and violent teure as kampala youth boss,the youth benefited greatly during his tenure, with many receiving cash support and project funding from Government and president Museveni. However, some were expected to confront Buyinza and weaken his extremist groups, including the Uganda Poor Youth Movement, the Uganda Jobless Brotherhood, The Bawejere youth Brigade that mostly operated in Greater Mukono areas, and the NRM Poor Muslim Youth Forum.
Other notable politicians who dominated the year 2014 included;
– Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

– Gen Kale Kayihura
– Erias Lukwago
– Then MUK Guild President Ivan Bwowe

The American government’s backing of the poor youth movement posed a significant challenge to the Kampala regime, leading to Gen Kayihura’s future sanctions and brutal crackdown on poor youth movement leaders. This, in turn, caught the attention of USA intelligence agencies, which began monitoring Kayihura’s activities closely.
Despite his low profile, Buyinza’s influence remains significant, with many questioning his true loyalties and motivations. One thing is certain, however – his impact on Uganda’s youth political landscape has been profound, and his legacy continues to shape the country’s political youth discourse.
