In a bid to strengthen party cohesion and strategize for the upcoming political landscape, a delegation of NRM leaders hailing from Wakiso district convened with the party’s Secretary-General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, at his offices situated in Plot 10 Kyadondo Road, Nakasero.
Expressing gratitude for their unwavering support amidst challenges, Todwong lauded the leaders for their steadfastness in backing the NRM government despite opposition pressures. He emphasized the detrimental effects of internal fragmentation, urging against the practice of contesting as independents, which he believes divides party supporters and weakens the NRM’s stance.
Addressing logistical concerns, Todwong assured the attendees that measures have been taken to rectify previous shortcomings, notably ensuring a clean voters’ register for future primary elections. He stressed the importance of organizational efficiency to uphold the integrity of the party’s democratic processes.
Advocating for recognition of Wakiso district’s significance, Hon. Rosemary Seninde, Director of Mobilisation at the NRM, proposed its elevation to a regional level akin to Kampala, citing its substantial size and population. Seninde urged the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to consider establishing divisions within Wakiso as separate districts to enhance mobilization efforts effectively.
The commendation poured in for Todwong and the Secretariat for fostering inclusive leadership and spearheading initiatives such as the recent membership register update, which showcased a commitment to unity and inclusivity within the party ranks.
In a show of solidarity and determination, the leaders pledged to intensify mobilization efforts and recruit new party supporters across all levels, reaffirming their dedication to advancing the NRM’s agenda in Wakiso district and beyond.
The engagement between Todwong and the NRM Wakiso district leaders underscores the party’s resolve to consolidate its support base and navigate the intricacies of the political landscape with unity and purpose.
