Tororo, Uganda – In a swift and intelligence-led operation, Territorial Police in Tororo have recovered a gun and arrested a suspect in connection with the illegal possession of firearms.
According to authorities, the rifle was found at Pereje Cell, Pereje Ward, Apokor Town Council, Tororo District, on October 26, 2024, at approximately 5:40 pm. The gun was discovered under the bed of Emodo Vincent, 64, Chairman of LC 2 Pereje Ward, by Nyapendi Josephine during a prayer session at Onyapidi Alfose’s home, a brother to the suspect.
Police immediately responded to the scene, recovering the gun with one bullet in the chamber and a magazine with 29 rounds of ammunition. Further searches conducted in the houses of Emodo Vincent and his son, Emuria Denis, yielded additional items, including an army green trouser, army desert shoes, a maroon beret, a faded army green jacket, and a dark blue trouser suspected to be for private security company.
Emodo Vincent was arrested on October 27, 2024, after a successful trace, and is currently in custody at CPS Tororo, pending thorough interrogation.
“The suspect is assisting police with investigations,” said IP Mugwe Johnson Moses, Ag. PRO, Bukedi South Region. “We commend the community for their vigilance and cooperation in reporting the incident.”

The incident is being investigated by the Territorial Police in Tororo, with support from the District Crime Intelligence Officer.
