In a significant transition at Uganda’s State House, Dr. Kenneth Omona Olusegun has officially handed over his duties as Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to H.E the President, paving the way for Ms. Gloria Asio Omaswa to assume the role.
Dr. Omona’s transition follows his appointment as Minister of State for Northern Uganda in a recent cabinet reshuffle by President Museveni. The reshuffle also saw Ms. Omaswa’s appointment as the new PPS.
The handover ceremony, held at the Office of the President in Kampala, was attended by dignitaries including Hajji Yunus Kakande, representing Minister for Presidency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda. Kakande commended Dr. Omona for his service and highlighted President Museveni’s confidence in him, evidenced by his new ministerial appointment.
Incoming PPS, Ms. Omaswa, was urged to prioritize empathy and teamwork in her new role, with Kakande emphasizing the importance of collaboration for success within State House.
Ms. Lucy Nakyobe, Head of Public Service and Secretary to Cabinet, praised Dr. Omona’s dedication and contributions to State House, wishing him success in his ministerial role. She also welcomed Ms. Omaswa, expressing confidence in her capabilities.
State House Comptroller, Ms. Jane Barekye, thanked Dr. Omona for his service and assured support for Ms. Omaswa to continue improving State House operations.
In her remarks, Ms. Omaswa expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Uganda and thanked President Museveni for the appointment.
Dr. Omona, reflecting on his tenure, expressed profound gratitude to President Museveni, describing him as a mentor and exceptional leader. He offered words of encouragement to Ms. Omaswa, highlighting the privilege of working closely with the President and the supportive environment of State House.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several officials including Senior Presidential Advisors and State House staff, underlining the significance of the transition and continuity within Uganda’s governance structure.
