Soroti: The Uganda Human Rights Commission Soroti Regional Office has enrolled the mobile technological approach of reporting Violation cases by communities currently grappling with the vice.
Miss. Akello Josephine the Regional Human Rights officer on Monday Morning revealed that the UHRC App shall help to combat the vice.
“Shift is aimed at enhancing the Citizens’ knowledge on human rights and obligations, the surveillance, systems as reporting cases becomes easier to the disadvantaged communities.” she said.
Adding, “The UHRC mobile App is unique in a way that it is accessible through mobile phones and easy to use to report violation cases at any time, it is cheaper like any other social media Apps. this comes with all the necessary information regarding the human rights, the commission’s operations, the location of the regional offices and helpline contacts for a victim to easily get immediate help.”
The innovation was officially launched on 24th Nov 2022 by the Minister of ICT and National guidance, however the commission is currently in the verge of enrolling and popularizing the App across the entire country especially in rural setting where the vice is regular.
Akello further revealed that Soroti regional office alone receives an average of 100 casesĀ reported on monthly basis, meaning that at least 3 to 4 cases are recorded every day.
