Mombassa: The fastest East African Member of Parliament, Hon. Joan Alobo, a Woman MP from Soroti City, has joined the third day of the East African Parliamentary Games in Mombasa with her sights set on bringing glory to Uganda again Known for her exceptional athleticism and speed, Hon. Alobo is ready to represent the Parliament of Uganda in the highly competitive games.
The games, which bring together legislators and parliamentary staff from across the East African region, include a range of sporting activities aimed at promoting unity and physical fitness among policymakers. Hon. Alobo and others are set to participate in four categories: the 1500-meter race, 100-meter sprint, 400-meter race, and the 4×100-meter relay. These categories will feature separate competitions for both Members of Parliament and parliamentary staff, allowing participants to showcase their athletic prowess.
While speaking to our reporter, Hon. Alobo exuded confidence and determination to defend Uganda’s sporting reputation. “I am here to give my best and ensure that Uganda remains at the top of these games. These competitions are not just about winning but also fostering regional integration and teamwork. However, the trophy must remain ours,” she said with a smile.
Alobo’s and Wokorach Simon Peter Mp Aswa Gulu said their performance in previous editions of the games has earned them widespread recognition as the fastest female MP in East Africa. Her commitment to blending her legislative duties with physical fitness has inspired many, proving that leaders can excel both in the chambers of Parliament and on the track.
Uganda’s delegation to the games is also counting on the skills of other MPs and parliamentary staff, who have been rigorously preparing for their respective categories. The 1500-meter race, a true test of endurance, is expected to be a highlight, while the 100-meter sprint will undoubtedly draw attention to raw speed. The 400-meter race and the short relay (4×100 meters) will also add excitement to the day, showcasing both individual and team efforts.
