The social media group, popularly known as Soroti at Heart, has teamed with Police to clean Soroti city starting this Saturday.
It is no longer the matter of Social media criticism, but walking the talk in using well thought approaches to make Soroti a welcoming home that smiles at every other citizen including the visitors.
In a joint meeting between the two entities held on Monday at the Lion’s club premises in Akisim, they acknowledged the state of hygiene across the city and therefore fronted a need to explode massive campaign of reclaiming Soroti’s past clean image.
In attendance were the executive members of Soroti at Heart and the Regional Community Liaison Officer for East Kyoga Region, SP John Robert Tukei and other high ranking officers of Police.

A friendly football match is scheduled to take place at Soroti Stadium between Uganda Police and Soroti at heart in the afternoon after the cleaning exercise on Saturday as part of the campaign activities.
Tom Ewoku, the chairman Soroti at heart said he was highly indebted to the men on uniform for being their top partners in the keep Soroti clean campaign.
“We have both agreed that the areas to be cleaned on Saturday include Juakali, Soroti Central Market, Soroti Taxi Park, Teso Coach Park, Public gardens, Y.Y Bus Park, Old bus park, Akisim trading center,” he said.
Adding: “We therefore call upon the entire community of Soroti city, the business community and the institutions to join hands with us in this ensuring the cleanness of our own Soroti city.”

SP Tukei committed total cooperation from police to work with communities to improve on their wellbeing.
“We equally don’t feel comfortable living in such a dirty environment and in such a way, we have fully joined this community group to change the current state of the city in terms of sanitation,” he said.
Adding: “After the cleaning, we shall embark on ensuring the enforcement of the policies and the bie – laws pertaining the sanitation especially waste disposal.”

On Wednesday last week, Soroti at heart members met with the Soroti city clerk Daniel Christopher Kawesi to discuss how best Soroti city can regain its lost glory.
According to Kawesi, the city is constrained financially hence grappling with waste management.
