Ministry of health has signed a UGX 21 Billion Contract with M/s SIRIUS Corporation from Japan to supply and install advanced medical equipment at Soroti and Jinja Regional Referral Hospitals (RRHs).
This contract is part of the JICA-funded initiative, the “Project for the Improvement of Medical Equipment at Regional Referral Hospitals in Uganda.”
The equipment, which includes state-of-the-art X-rays, ultrasound machines, ENT and dental equipment, as well as essential surgical instruments, aims to improve healthcare delivery in the two hospitals.
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Dr Diana Atwine told our reporter that the installation is set to begin in October 2025, with training and commissioning of the equipment scheduled for November and December 2025.
The project also includes a three-year maintenance contract to ensure the equipment remains functional for years to come.
Ones complete, this project will not only enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities but also reduce the burden on patients.
