Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Nelson Ocheger, has expressed profound sorrow following the passing of Onapito Ekomoloit, praising him as a man of immense passion, humility, and dedication. In a heartfelt message shared on his X account, formerly Twitter, and during a phone call with this site’s administration, Ambassador Ocheger described Onapito as a leader who not only excelled professionally but was deeply committed to preserving his cultural heritage.
“Onapito was driven by a genuine love for his country and his people,” Ocheger noted. “His humility, combined with a wealth of knowledge, made him a rare gem in our society. He didn’t just pursue personal success; he was determined to uplift those around him. His reverence for tradition, paired with his professional excellence, made him truly stand out.”
Ambassador Ocheger, who serves as Uganda’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, reflected on Onapito’s lasting impact, especially his role as an advocate for the Iteso cultural identity. “Onapito remained rooted in his heritage while navigating the modern challenges of leadership, earning him admiration from all who knew him.”
Ocheger concluded his tribute by saying, “We have lost not just a colleague, but a brother who stayed true to his values. Rest in peace, Onapito.”
