Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo arrived in the Russian Federation this morning to attend the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum, which officially begins today in Saint Petersburg. Upon her arrival at Pulkovo International Airport, she was welcomed by Uganda’s Deputy Head of Mission in Russia, Mwebaze Gideon Rutazindwa, Uganda’s Defense Attache Brig. Gen. Patrick Black Tumwesigye, and Ms. Ekaterina Belotsvetova, a consultant at the International Relations Department of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia.
During the Forum’s grand opening ceremony, Vice President Alupo will lead a delegation of six members from Uganda in the Africa-Russia Women’s Dialogue. She is scheduled to present on “New Trends in International Cooperation.” The event runs from September 18th to 20th, 2024, and serves as a key platform for women leaders from around the globe to discuss and make decisions on critical issues such as international cooperation, sustainable economic development, technological advancements, healthy lifestyles, environmental safety, and the promotion of social and charitable projects.
The Forum brings together women parliamentarians, representatives from executive authorities, international organizations, businesses, the scientific community, public organizations, and prominent members of the global women’s movement. Participants hail from various countries, reflecting the Forum’s inclusive and global nature.
The event is organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in collaboration with the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS). The Roscongress Foundation serves as the Forum’s operator. This year’s Forum is held under the theme “Women for Strengthening Trust and Global Cooperation,” focusing on the vital role of women in fostering international trust and collaboration.
