PARLIAMENT: Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo paid tribute today to former MP Simon Peter Aleper, who died in a car crash along the Iganga-Tirinyi highway on Tuesday this week.
Alupo stated that the Karamoja Sub Region and the country at large have lost a young and vibrant political leader.
“The country has lost a community mobilizer, an agent of the NRM’s socio-economic transformation agenda, who has spearheaded peace and security in the Karamoja sub-region,” she eulogized.
Alupo made these remarks during a special Parliament session held in honor of Aleper’s service to humanity and the country.The Vice President said Aleper would be dearly missed not only by his family and friends but by the entire country.
On behalf of the Office of the Vice President and herself, Alupo extended heartfelt condolences to Aleper’s family, the people of Karamoja, the National Resistance Movement, and the nation at large.
Aleper was the former Moroto Municipality Member of Parliament. He was also the Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the Karamoja region and a member of the Central Executive Committee.
