In a decisive move echoing the heartbeat of Ugandan politics, Her Excellency the Vice President Jessica Alupo, also the chairperson of the NRM veterans league in Katakwi District, has concluded the rigorous verification exercise of the NRM village register in her stronghold of Oigo-momwa, Aketa parish, Ongongoja sub-county, Katakwi district.
In her resounding address, VP Alupo underscored the pivotal role of the “yellow book,” emphasizing that inclusion in this register is paramount for voting privileges.
Gratitude poured forth towards President Museveni for leading the verification process and granting a generous seven-day window, especially beneficial for those residing in remote regions. Greetings from the President echoed a clarion call for national mobilization to partake in the verification process, a crucial step towards solidifying the NRM’s electoral base.
With an eye towards the future, VP Alupo urged all eligible citizens above 18 to register, while also extending the invitation to those aged 15 and 16, anticipating their eligibility by the 2026 elections.
Amidst applause, she commended the transparency of village registrars and voters alike, while sternly warning against any attempts at tampering or misinformation, emphasizing strict adherence to party laws and guidelines.
A rallying cry for unity echoed as VP Alupo implored party members to welcome back prodigal members from other political affiliations, fostering an environment of inclusivity and reconciliation.
The nationwide exercise, commencing on Wednesday, 13th March 2024, is slated to conclude on 17th March 2024, marking a pivotal moment in the NRM’s grassroots mobilization efforts.
VP Alupo seized the moment to express gratitude to the government for selecting Aketa parish as a model for poverty alleviation, heralding a broader initiative spanning 47 districts. Promising developments included infrastructure upgrades, agricultural support, and the provision of essential services, resonating deeply with the local community.
As a beacon of hope, VP Alupo pledged tangible support, including a motorcycle for the LC1 chairman, borehole drilling, road construction, and agricultural assistance, cementing her commitment to uplift her constituency.
In a stirring finale, VP Alupo urged farmers to embrace cassava farming as a means to combat hunger, promising to equip them with the necessary resources to thrive.
