Kaabong, Uganda – In a significant breakthrough, notorious warrior Lochiam Losiya surrendered today, marking a major victory for the disarmament efforts in Kaabong District.
Losiya, a prominent figure in the region’s conflict, turned himself in and returned a firearm to the authorities after an intense conversation with members of the St. Daniel Women’s Development Group, led by community leaders, including Kaabong West Sub-County LC3 Chairman, Sagal Simon Peter.
Chairman Sagal’s tireless efforts, coupled with the women’s group and security forces, persuaded Losiya and his followers to lay down their arms.
“We are thrilled that Lochiam Losiya has chosen the path of peace,” said Chairman Sagal. “Our collective efforts have finally paid off, and we appreciate the community’s support.”
Kaabong District officials hailed the surrender as a major achievement. “This is a testament to the community’s resolve to end violence and embrace peace,” said Sagal
Security forces praised the collaborative effort, saying it demonstrates the effectiveness of community-led initiatives.
Losiya’s surrender and disarmament are expected to pave the way for other warriors to follow suit, bringing an end to years of insecurity in the region.
