Dr. Agnes Atim Apea the Womam MP Amolatar District.

The woman Member of Parliament for Amolatra district Dr. Agnes Atim Apea has appealed to the community to desist from saving money in SACCOs with an aim of dividing it for buying Christmas demands.

Dr.Atim was speaking to thousands of people who were attending a training organized by the Uganda Micro finance support center at Abarikoro parish Agik- dak Sub County in Amolatra district earlier on this week.

She noted that most of the community in Lango have the culture of dividing money by the end of the year. She condemned it characterizing it as an old one that does not bring development since the money has no strategic plan other than one day’s spending.

Apea proposed that proposed the community members to get the money saved in their different SACCO groups on loans so that it can support them in operating business to boost their household incomes, she also donated over 135 million shillings to help the village SACCO as startup capital after attending the training.

“It’s  good that the microfinance support center has provided you with saving boxes but you cannot go back with them empty, I challenge you not to miss use this money so that your groups and SACCOs will evolve”, she said.

“the 135 million is just as  a seed capital  for my electorates to pick up in savings, they can start borrowing this money and operate small medium business that will help them to boost their household incomes”, she told this website.

While closing the training organized by the Uganda Microfinance support center, Lira branch, Apea also launched the distribution exercise of 480 safe boxes provided by the Microfinance support center.

Nebbu Nabada, the general manager of Microfinance support center Lira branch declared their total commitment in providing financial knowledge like financial management skills to the citizens as a formidable means of enhancing people’s economic status.

“As the microfinance support center we are offering all what it takes to help our communities to understand how to use and manage the money and business. You should keep those boxes and the books appropriately so that they can help you transform your families” Nabada stated.
