His Highness Raphael Otaya, the Paramount Chief of the Kumam Cultural Institution, has issued a stern warning to radical elements attempting to sow discord between the Iteso and Kumam communities for selfish gain. Speaking at a youth symposium organized by the First Lady at Soroti State Lodge yesterday, Otaya addressed the growing concerns over divisive rhetoric propagated by certain politicians.
He emphasized that, while Iteso and Kumam may speak different languages, they share a deep bond rooted in a common heritage and bloodline that must not be undermined. Otaya urged communities to resist these harmful narratives, calling for unity and cooperation between the two groups in order to safeguard their shared cultural values and future.
