Young leaders from various youth and student leadership institutions on Saturday applauded the Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua for inspiring them and championing youth agenda in the country.
Obua represented President Yoweri Museveni during the launch of the Students and Youth Leaders Empowerment Summit in Kampala.
He delivered the President’s message that centered on ideological orientation, patriotism and wealth creation.
“There is no confusion when it comes to development and national interests. The core goals of the NRM are patriotism and national interests above individuals and identity,” said Museveni through Obua.
Adding: “NRM is solely premised on the legitimate interests of the people including the creation of wealth, jobs and market to achieve a prosperous and peaceful Uganda.”
The participants converged from universities and districts across the country, one-by-one enumerated Obua’s leadership journey from UNSA to the youth Member of Parliament, which has been a pivotal source of inspiration to them.
“We are so lucky today because H.E the President made the best choice to send for us Hon. Hamson Obua,” said Yusuf Welunga.
Mr. Welunga, former UNSA President and the organizer of Students and Youth Leaders Empowerment Summit, noted that the Government Chief Whip inspired most of them to join student leadership.
“The rich biography of Hon. Hamson Obua made most of us student leaders and we continue to learn from him,” he said.
The Government Chief Whip beseeched the young leaders to follow the footsteps of the national leaders who rose through youth leadership ranks like himself, Minister Frank Tumwebaze, former EALA Speaker Dan Kidega, Rose Namayanja.
Obua boasts of an industrious credential having served as the youngest Commissioner of Parliament, State Minister of Sports, Chairperson of Science and Technology Committee of Parliament, Spokesperson Commonwealth Youth Forum and voted best the performing Member of Parliament in 2010 at 100% rating among others.
He also served as the Chairman District Youth Council and subsequently joined the National Executive Council as Secretary of Finance.
