The High Court in Soroti made a critical additional order in the 150-acre contested Serere land involving Serere District Local Government and human rights activist, Moses Omiat. The fresh order is for Serere District Local Government to be evicted from Omiat’s land and hand him vacant possession. The banking services at Equity bank Soroti Branch have resumed says the management. In a statement released by the management on the bank’s official social media accounts, the bank gad a distress incident on Tuesday morning where armed persons attempted to gain access into the banking hall. The management of equity bank Soroti City has broken silence over the incident where unknown assailants broke into the bank’s building in an attempt to raid money and valuable property. Francis Erumu, the manager of Equity Bank, confirmed that the thieves attempted to access the bank but were unsuccessful in their endeavors. Back then, the fruit farmers have a false belief that watermelon couldn’t do well; leave alone growing in Teso Sub region.  Watermelon was commonly grown in Luwero, Kayunga, Mpigi, Mayuge, Mubende, Masindi and Bushenyi districts. The fruits were rare in supermarkets and shops in Teso. However, the tables have turned thanks to some farmers who decided to try out the fruit in 2017.
